"That's Captain Lovino Vargas to you, dammit!" Your best friend barked at you, putting on the holier-than-thou act.

You gave him the infamous 'bitch, please' look and placed your hands on your slim, shapely hips. Underneath you, the hard wooden deck of the pirate ship swayed and bounced with the deep blue sea's gently rolling waves. Lovino was the Captain of the Vela Pomodoro, and wasn't afraid to let his crew know who was boss. You had asked to come along on his journey to sail the entire Pacific Ocean, because it had sounded like a grand adventure.

Unfortunately, you soon learned that with adventure came horrible body odor. Even though most of the crew thought having a woman onboard was very bad luck, none of them could deny your usefulness in the kitchen. They were used to eating stale bread and whatever types of fish they could get their hands on. With you around, it was pretty much a five star restaurant to the crew. You turned everything the crew considered 'edible' into what you thought was 'delicious'; or at least you tried to. There wasn't much that could be done about a dead, rotting rat they had once brought you to cook, after all.

"Land ho!" someone shouted from the top of the crow's nest, and you immediately rushed to the side of the boat. Sure enough, there was a tiny speck on the horizon just beginning to appear. You could make out the beginnings of an island.

"Yes! At last, I can take a bath!" you crowed, pumping one fist into the air with excitement. It was nearly impossible to clean one's grimy body while on a ship.
The land mass began steadily growing bigger as the ship approached, and you could hardly contain your joy. After three long months, you had finally reached a stopping place!
When the ship finally docked on the shore of the mysterious island, the entire crew, including you, ran off the boat and began to kiss the soft sandy ground.

"Damn, I thought we'd never find land until we reached Asia or something…" Lovino whistled, adjusting his beaten up pirate's hat on top of his messy dark brown hair.

You nodded once in agreement, before sprinting into the cold water as fast as you possibly could. Upon entering the icy waves you shrieked, "Shit! It's fucking freezing!"

The entire crew all turned their heads and gawked at you with giant eyes.

You blinked cluelessly and asked, "What is it?"

"Miss, your…breasts…" One particularly brave crew member stuttered, his weather-tanned face turning a deep red as he pointed at your chest.

You blinked once in surprise, glancing down at your now-soaked white button up shirt and felt your cheeks flushing a bright pink. "S-Sorry." You stammered, sinking down beneath the cool salty ocean water all the way to your chin.

"Give the donna some privacy!" Lovino yelled, turning his back to you. The entire crew mumbled, "Aye, Captain." while turning away from you as well.

You murmured a quick thanks to the South Italian, and began feverishly scrubbing the muck, grime and dust away from your skin. It took about twenty minutes for all the filth to wash off, but at last you could see what color your skin originally was. You began to scrub at your coarse shoulder length hair in an attempt to remove all the disgusting dirt out of the locks. Finally you were done cleaning yourself and stepped out of the water, pulling on your soiled clothing with a grimace. You mentally noted to wash your clothes later.

Lovino swiveled to look at you, and his mouth dropped open. "Y-You…" he choked out, before turning away from you with bright red cheeks.

"Lovi, what's wrong?" You asked, grabbing his hand instinctively.

"N-Nothing! Stop being so clean and pretty already!" He grumped while snatching his hand out of yours.

You stifled a tiny giggle and smirked in amusement. "Oh, so you've never seen a clean girl before, huh?"

A scowl etched itself into his attractive face while a deep blush began covering his olive toned skin. "S-Shut up."

You snickered, thinking how much fun it was to tease him, and poked his thin cheeks, cooing in a baby voice, "Aww, Lovi is embarrassed.~"

Lovino flushed a darker shade of red and he looked away from you, clearly mortified.

You laughed at his facial expression, and gently patted his shoulder.
"Let's stay here for a while to see if there are any towns to raid," you suggested, smiling cheerfully at him.

He only gave a single grunt in response, but you knew that was just his way of saying 'yes'.

Lovino began instructing the ship's crew to collect firewood, find a suitable place to sleep, then to return to the docking area.

"Come with me," he ordered tersely, grabbing your small hand in his larger, calloused one. Your (e/c) eyes widened in surprise as he began dragging you into the dense mass of trees, far away from where the crew members were.

"Where are we going?" you asked, not resisting at all.

"We're going to look for other people. Maybe we can stock up on some supplies," he replied, not sparing you a single glance.

Your heart began to hammer painfully inside your chest as your brain finally registered the fact that you were holding hands with him. Why…why am I feeling this way? you asked yourself.

Lovino and you reached an abrupt stop at the deep blue ocean again, and he blinked several times. "Dammit, this island is uninhabited. It's small, too," he griped, and you couldn't help the teensy smile that spread across your face.

"Aren't you just angry that you can't get any more tomatoes?" you teased, and he just gave you a death glare in response.

"Ugh, we can't get any new items here either," Lovino grumped, a sour expression marring his good looking features.

"Maybe there's some fruit or something in the palm trees," you suggested, looking up at the extremely tall vegetation. You thought you could make out the distant shape of a coconut.

"Si, but even if there was, we wouldn't be able to reach it," he grumbled, briefly glancing up at the trees as well.

"Well, while we're still here you might as well force the crew to clean up a bit. I can smell their b.o from all the way over here," you stated, mock-plugging your nose. Then a sudden thought struck you. Why, Lovino himself didn't smell bad at all! He smelled like tomatoes and…a man smell. You instantly blushed deeply just thinking about it. Why the hell am I thinking about how he smells? you mentally berated yourself.

"Well since there's no damn town or anything, let's just head back." Lovino decided, forcefully stomping through the thick jungle in what he assumed was the direction where the crew was waiting.

You walked at a faster pace and had gotten to the meeting point much farther ahead of Lovino. Strangely enough, you noticed that quite a few of the crew members appeared to be agitated. Wondering what was going on, you quickly ducked behind a large palm tree.

"Let's just ditch those two while we still can! There's bound to be a storm tonight! If we capture the boat now, we might make it to a different landing spot before the storm hits!" The first mate declared, gesturing wildly about with his big, tanned hands.

"B-but if the Captain finds out about this, we'll all be dead!" the boatswain objected, looking very scared indeed. He obviously didn't want to feel the terrifying wrath of Lovino Vargas.

They're planning to ditch us? your mind swam at that very idea, and unthinkingly, you stepped out from behind the tree to confront them.

"Don't you dare take the ship," you gave them the bitchiest sneer your face could muster and planted your hands on your hips.

The group of sailors merely stared at you for a few moments before one spoke.

"Oh shit, the lassie knows our plan. Quickly, men! We must silence her!"

A chorus of "Ayes" followed the statement, and soon the entire gang was approaching you with menacing expressions plastered onto their ugly faces.

"Just be a good lassie, and then we might not hurt ye." The sailing master leered, showing a mouth full of disgusting rotted yellow teeth.

"Like hell I will. If you come any closer, I'll scream and Lovi will come running." You threatened.

"Oh, we're calling the Captain nicknames now, eh? Well I've got a pretty good one for him – pussy." One sailor jeered, his facial expression twisted into a mean smirk.

You immediately felt indignant that they would so rudely insult Lovino, and hissed, venom dripping from every word, "Oh, you're all going to pay for that." Unfortunately, you had no weapon at all whereas the entire crew had their cutlasses at the ready.

Oh shit. was your last thought before you felt a powerful blow come crashing down on your head and everything went dark.

When you awoke at last, you noticed that your wrists and ankles were tightly bound with some kind of stiff rope, and that there was a foul tasting gag stuffed inside your mouth so you wouldn't be able to scream your fucking head off. You had no idea where the hell you even were.

The first mate was standing in front of you, wearing a creepy ass smile that gave you the heebie-jeebies. He was holding a shiny silver knife and before your brain could even process what was happening, the sharp, cold blade was pressing harshly against your throat. "Don't make a single sound or I'll slit that pretty throat of yours, lassie." He whispered in your ear. His breath smelled like putrid things you'd rather not think about.

You didn't even dare to nod, for fear that the knife would dig into your neck. The first mate slowly removed the gag, and was about to do God-knows-what to you when suddenly a leather clad foot swung out of thin air and whacked him senseless on the side of the head. The first mate toppled over, unconscious, and Lovino stood there looking furious beyond belief.

"Damn you…damn you to hell." The South Italian snarled, his olive hands clenching into tightly balled fists. "How dare you even think about hurting her, you bastard?!"

Unfortunately, at that exact moment the sky decided to split wide open and a wave of pouring rain came crashing down from the heavens, immediately drenching both of you. A powerful gust of wind began blowing, so strong that you had to squeeze your eyes shut for fear that something would blow into them. You struggled desperately against your restraints.

"Shit!" Lovino growled, one of his tanned arms perched on top of his head in an attempt to keep his battered pirate hat from being carried away.  The other arm was wielding a knife and sawing feverishly at the ropes tightly binding your ankles and wrists.
Finally free, the two of you huddled close together under a particularly large tree, trying desperately to not get swept away by the mind blowing storm. Your slender shoulders were brushed against his broad, strong ones and you blushed furiously at the physical contact. The storm continued to rage endlessly, battering everything with a furious downpour. For what seemed like hours, you and Lovino sat beneath the tree, neither of you talking. The storm was simply too loud for any form of communication. Your breath caught in your chest and a blush spread across your face when Lovino wrapped one arm around you, pulling you close to his warm chest.

When the storm finally cleared, the South Italian scrambled out of the makeshift shelter and swore loudly.

"What's wrong?" you asked, crawling out from beneath the tree.

"Our ship is gone! The wind must have blown the anchor away or something…" Lovino griped, his eyebrows drawing together as a scowl began to form.

"Oh no! I think the crew managed to steal the ship after all…" You slowly sank to your knees feeling utterly useless. You couldn't manage to stop them from taking the boat, and now your best friend and secret crush's most prized possession was gone forever.

"What the hell are you talking about?! Is that why you were tied up?" Lovino demanded to know, a mixture of anger and confusion evident in his light brown eyes.

You just nodded your head silently, knowing you'd probably never be able to face him ever again knowing that you couldn't save his beloved ship.

"Ragazza stupida..." Lovino's shoulders began to quiver as his head dropped. His dark brown hair shadowed his eyes. "Didn't you know, I was so worried about you! When I saw you tied up like that... Y-you're worth much more to me than the Vela Pomodoro!" he shouted, lifting his head to stare into your (e/c) eyes. Lovino's face was a bright red shade.

You felt your own face start to color, as his words registered in your mind. "L-Lovi, I..."

"…Wait, is that…that's Antonio's ship, the Princesa del Mar!" Lovino suddenly exclaimed, pointing a single finger at a boat far off in the distant horizon.

"Will they be willing to help us?" you asked, full of hope.

"Of course! Y-You know, (Name)…I've been…t-thinking…" Lovino started to say, his cheeks flushing.

"What is it?" you tilted your head, wondering why he was so tongue tied all of a sudden.
"T-Ti…ti amo…" he mumbled, looking shy and awkward with cherry red cheeks.

You gasped, and froze for several moments. He actually liked you back! "I l-love you too!" you stammered hastily.

The two of you sat down on the warm sandy beach to await Antonio's arrival.
I hope I captured Romano's personality well in this. I tried my best. This was a request from ~RekkaMaiden
I greatly enjoyed writing this. This fanfic was greatly inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean.
Please help me think of a title for this story.
